MURRAY, Ky. -- KVRA's vintage coupes and sedans, originally scheduled to be idle on the Fourth of July weekend, will be in action Friday at Paducah International Raceway.

KVRA president and founder Mark Moore announced the addition to the schedule Tuesday evening.

The race will be the sixth this year and the 20th overall at PIR, the vintage series' unofficial home track. Dave Davidson of Henderson, Ky., has won four of the five races so far this year at the 3/8-mile high-banked oval and is one victory behind Moore, who has won eight races at PIR, in career statistics.

Dennis English of Palma, Ky., is also a former winner at PIR who is expected to compete Friday.

Other drivers with victories at Paducah who are expected to compete Friday night include Rex Rutter, who is scheduled to make his return to action for the first time since he was injured in an off-track accident in April. Rutter, of Madisonville, Ky., scored his second career KVRA win June 6, 2008, at Paducah.

Josh Throgmorton of Providence, Ky., has been substituting for Rutter in the No. W3 Weaver Racing 1947 Chevy. He drove the "Grumpy Old Men" car to victory at Paducah May 15, the only victory that has eluded Davidson at PIR this year.

Davidson is on a tear this year, having scored seven KVRA wins. He has won the last two features in a row, and will start at the back of the field in his next start under KVRA's handicap rules.

Friday's race will be the 13th of the season for KVRA. A race this past Friday at Camden (Tenn.) Motor Speedway was rained out.
