MURRAY, Ky. -- A KVRA event at Western Kentucky Speedway originally scheduled for Saturday night, Aug. 22, has been moved back a week, to Aug. 29.

KVRA president and founder Mark Moore announced the change after a request from Tammy Coble, promoter of races at the 3/8-mile dirt oval in northern Hopkins County, in the Nebo community.

MURRAY, Ky. -- Ed Adams, a veteran engine builder and machinist who serves as KVRA technical inspector and is a part-time driver, was injured in a motorcycle accident Monday night.

KVRA president and founder Mark Moore said a dog ran in front of Adams' Harley-Davidson, causing him to crash.

The two swapped the lead four times according to official lead changes recorded, but on several laps there were multiple exchanges of the front spot. Moore officially led the final five laps in his 1934 Chevrolet coupe, but Davidson was a constant challenger.

PADUCAH, Ky. -- KVRA's vintage coupes and sedans, originally scheduled as part of the NASCAR Night II program at Paducah International Raceway, will not participate in the Thursday night program.

KVRA president and founder Mark Moore learned of that development Friday night at the 3/8-mile track, where the series was in action for the eighth time this year.

Owing to a rained-out event June 26, it will be the fourth straight race at Paducah on the KVRA schedule. KVRA has competed at PIR 21 times since the series' inception in 2007.

Chad Fritsche of Puryear, Tenn., (No. 40, above right) won last Friday night's feature at Paducah, the second win of the season for the second-year driver.

Fritsche took the lead on the fifth lap and held it to the finish, taking the checkered flag a half car length ahead of runner-up Dennis English.

His win ended a two-race winning streak by Dave Davidson, who started in the back of the 13-car field and worked his way up to fifth. Davidson had won five of the last six races at PIR since Sept. 19, 2008, and had won the last three straight at the 3/8-mile high-banked dirt oval.

Rex Rutter.jpgRex Rutter, idle since he was injured in an off-track incident in April, returns to the KVRA lineup tonight as the vintage coupes and sedans make an extra visit to the 3/8-mile high-banked Paducah International Raceway oval.

PIR is the series' unofficial home track, for tonight's race. It will be the sixth race of the season at PIR and the 21st in series history.

Rutter, of Madisonville, Ky., drives the Weaver Racing No. W3, a black 1947 Chevrolet coupe. Rutter is a three-time winner in KVRA competition, including a June 6, 2008, feature at PIR. His interim replacement, late model driver Josh Throgmorton of Providence, Ky., scored a win May 15 at Paducah.
