KVRA competitors return to action tonight at Paducah International Raceway.
Thanks to two straight rainy weekends and no races scheduled
during the Memorial Day holiday weekend, tonight's race will be only the fourth
of the month of May for KVRA competitors. It's the third event of the season
for the vintage coupes and sedans at the 3/8-mile high-banked Paducah
International Raceway oval. ...
Dave Davidson won
his fourth feature of the season in KVRA's last outing May 16 at Western
Kentucky Speedway in Nebo, Ky.
Davidson won the season opener April 3 at Paducah
and won two features at Clarksville (Tenn.) Speedway.
So far, all his victories have come in odd-numbered events on the KVRA
schedule. Tonight's Race. No. 8 will give him a chance to "get even." Davidson
has 12 KVRA career feature wins in the No. 16 maroon and white 1933 Plymouth sedan ...
Mark Moore,
founder and president of KVRA and the series' winningest driver with 19 career
feature wins, has won eight races at PIR,
including five triumphs last year. Moore, of Murray, Ky., has a single
victory this year in the No. 33 orange and silver 1934 Chevy coupe, April 17 at
Camden, Tenn. He finished second to Davidson May 16 at Nebo. ...
Mike Moore,
brother of the KVRA president, will drive a Moore Motorsports entry, the No. 35
1935 Plymouth
coupe, tonight. Moore missed the early part of
the season working in a coal mining operation in Colombia,
South America. His return to action May 15 at Paducah was an unhappy
one, as he tangled with a lapped car and demolished his No. C7, a white 1934
Ford sedan, in a violent rollover crash. Moore
won the 2008 KVRA season opener at Paducah.
...
Neal Ford of Paducah will make his
KVRA debut tonight in the Moore Motorsports No. C8, a 1941 Buick-bodied
machine. ...
Tonight's race is the first of two scheduled events for the
weekend for KVRA. A Saturday night appearance at Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown,
Tenn., is on tap next.
We thank Paducah
International Raceway for having us as a part of many of its racing
