PADUCAH, Ky. - Dave Davidson led from start to finish to win the Kentucky Vintage Racing Association feature Friday night at Paducah International Raceway.

It was the fifth KVRA win of the season for Davidson, of Henderson, Ky., and his second in a row.

Counting an unsanctioned race May 23 at Soggy Bottom Raceway in Morgantown, Ky., it was the sixth win in eight races this year for Davidson and the quick No. 16 1933 Plymouth sedan.

Josh Throgmorton, who won in the series' last appearance at the 3/8-mile PIR oval May 15, finished second and Weaver Racing teammate Brian Steele was third. Chad Fritsche was fourth and Mark Moore rounded out the top five.

Throgmorton, who got past Steele for second with two laps to go in the 10-lap chase, had his best chance when the second of two yellow flags waved just moments later. The top three cars went into Turn 1 nose to tail, but Davidson protected the low line and then sped away out of Turn 2.

"That's the way it works," Throgmorton said. "I couldn't keep going off the corner."

Steele echoed those sentiments. "He (Davidson) had better forward bite than anybody," he said. "He made it look easy."

"It was coming off the corners," Davidson agreed. "Somehow we've got it to working, and it makes it look easy."

In the first of two heat races, Pat Halvorson, of Paducah, scored his first career victory, with James Scott second and Richard Hall third. Steele won the second heat over Davidson and Throgmorton.

Joe Beard, Richard Hall, Kenny Brannon, Matt Moore and Halvorson rounded out the top 10.

The series moves on to Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, Tenn., tonight.
