Davidson gets second Clarksville win

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- Dave Davidson led from flag to flag to take the Kentucky Vintage Racing Association feature Saturday night at Clarksville Speedway.

It was the second victory at the ¼-mile clay oval in two weeks for Davidson, of Henderson, Ky.

The win was the third of the season and the 10th of his KVRA career for Davidson. He also won the 2009 season opener at Paducah (Ky.) International Raceway April 3. His maroon and white No. 16. a 1933 Plymouth sedan-bodied machine, has been strong all season

"I'd say this is the best run this year," said Davidson.

Davidson won by three car lengths over Chad Fritsche, with Richard Hall third. Jamie Hilton was fourth, the last driver on the lead lap, and Richard Cook was fifth, one lap down.

Davidson's only anxious moments in the caution-free 12-lap race were when he was negotiating lapped traffic. At one point, he drove between two other cars

"They were running a steady line, but one time they were three abreast," Davidson said. "Luckily, I got my way through there."

Hall and Davidson were heat race winners.

KVRA was able to return to action after suffering through three straight rainouts. The series is scheduled to be in action Friday, May 15, at Paducah and Saturday, May 16, at Western Kentucky Speedway in Nebo, Ky.
