CAMDEN, Tenn. - Mark Moore led from flag to flag to win the 10-lap Kentucky Vintage Racing Association feature at Camden Motor Speedway Friday night, and his son, Matt, took second with a last-lap pass of Richard Hall.
Hall was third, Jamie Hilton fourth and Jason Schmidt, making his first KVRA start, came from the back of the 10-car grid to finish fifth.
Except for the winner, who notched his 16th series feature victory, all top-five finishers registered career bests. Hilton, a rookie, also notched a victory in the first heat. Mark Moore won the second heat.
Another KVRA newcomer, James Scott, was running third when his car abruptly quit and coasted to a stop in Turn 4 of the fourth lap, bringing out the race's only yellow flag.
Moore, who had to fight to take the heat race victory over Hall, pulled away steadily in the feature and had a gap of about five car lengths when the checkered flag fell.
The race was the first of a two-event weekend for KVRA, which opened the season Aug. 3 at
